Week 2: Empower

It’s our second week. You began the process of emotional exploration last week. We set a decent foundation. Now we start to build on that foundation and act a little deeper and take actions based on what our emotions are telling us. This is the process of empowerment.

Review the two videos below and engage with the thought experiment. Our group session will recap what you learned and fuel our discussion Thursday night.

Topic 1

Empowerment defined.

Emotion intelligence (EI) is the key to emotional empowerment. There are 4 elements of EI: (1) Emotional awareness of self; (2) Emotions awareness of others; (3) Regulating emotions; (4) Using emotions for performance. Thinking through these four elements allows us to recognize, track, and act on our emotions. Let’s get more mindfully aware.

 
 

Topic 2

Emotional states.

What we do and how we feel is determined by the emotional state we are in. Positive changes demand being in positive emotional states. This week we learn about the emotional triad: Physiology, Language, and Focus. This triad gives us the power to influence and use our emotions. We will certainly explore the triad during our group session on Thursday.

Week 3

Rules

You’re progressing along nicely now. Time to establish some rules for your emotions. Have you thought about the beliefs you have concerning how you experience and express your emotions? This week you will learn where they come from and how to change them.

Week 4

Formulas

Emotional fitness is both about ending suffering and about building positive emotional strength. Our immersion ends with using discontent for emotional growth. You’ll explore a formula for ending suffering and establish goals to exercise your emotions in the weeks and months that follow.

Conclusion

At the end of this highly intensive 4-week experience, you’ll schedule a final coaching session with Johanna. Our goal is to help you bring what you learned into your daily life.

And since this is a pilot and we’re learning along with you, we’ll ask you some additional questions about your experience and get your feedback on this immersion and anything else that would help you author a thriving life.
